$10 GIFT CARD GIVE-AWAY

HotelDealsRevealed.com is giving away a $10 gift card to forum members who reach 100 posts by January 31, 2010. That's all there is to it.

• Give-away is only available to US and Canadian residents.
• You must be over 18 years old.
• Only 1 gift card per household
• Posts must be meaningful and in the spirit of this forum (no obvious 'filler' posts).
• A maximum of 75 gift cards will be given out.
• You must contact me by January 31, 2010 to receive your card.
• US residents can choose between a $10USD Amazon.com gift card or a BestBuy gift card. Canadian residents can choose between a $10CAD Futureshop gift card and a Starbucks gift card.

On January 31, 2010, HotelDealsRevealed.com will give away a $150 gift card to one of its forum members. The name will be randomly drawn. Gift card is for InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and can be used worldwide at InterContinental Hotels, Crown Plaza Hotels, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn & Holiday Inn Express Hotels, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites Hotels.

• Give-away is only available to US and Canadian residents.
• You must be over 18 years old.
• You will receive 1 entry for every post you make. Post just once and you are automatically entered into the draw. Post 100 times and receive 100 entries. There is no limit to the number of posts but they must be meaningful and in the spirit of the forum.
• Draw will be held on January 31, 2010.

Here's what you need to do:

2. Start posting. You will receive one entry for each post you make before January 31, 2010.

Here are answers to a couple of follow up questions:

Q: Are existing members eligible for the $10 gift card give-away and $150 draw?
A: Yes. This is a new forum with only 30 or so forums. Nobody (other than myself) had more than 10 posts so everyone is pretty much on a level playing field.

Q: Does the gift card have to be for the companies you mentioned?
A: No. I want to give you something you will enjoy and value. My only requirement is that I need to be able to purchase the gift card via the internet with my credit card and it must have free shipping. Some companies have a $15, $25, or $50 minimum so they're out. But by all means, if you want a different card, I'm happy to send it your way.

Q: Can I take cash instead?
A: No. Sorry.

Q: Why are you just 'giving away' gift cards for free?
A: Good question. Creating a website is easy but getting visitors is hard. Creating a brand new forum is even harder. Without a community and content, you won't get any new members. Without members, you won't get content and establish a community. Getting a high ranking on google to bring traffic is slow. I could advertise, but I figured that if I was going to spend money on building up a community, I wanted to do so by giving that money to the people who deserve it. Those who contribute to is forum.

I set the bar pretty high -- there's a lot easier ways to receive a $10 gift card than writing 100 posts to a forum. But that was intentional. My purpose was to set the bar high enough that spammers wouldn't bother and that those truly interested in this forum would reach the 100 post milestone and receive a gift card.

With a contest end date of January 31, 2010, I hope that give people enough time to make 100 posts. But if it doesn't, I wanted to give everyone who ernestly posted on this website a chance to win by offering a randomly awarded $150 gift card prize.

Hi. sure. If I can order/pay for the gift card online and have it automatically mailed to you without any additional costs, I don't really care which company it is. I get no kickbacks from the hotel chain or anything like that.*

The reason I chose Intercontinental is because (a) it meets the above criteria, and (b) they have several hotel brands (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, etc) locations throughout the world. I thought that since this was a travel forum, it would be travel/hotel related.

* I do get a small commission when you click on Hotwire or Priceline icons above and book your accommodation. I also get a small amount when you click on the banner that appears on the footer. These ads are completely unrelated to the gift-card give away promotion. I am paying for the full cost of these gift cards out of my own pocket.
