Travelers are probably aware of Travelocity’s service called Top Secret Hotels, but lets compare \u00a0Travelocity Top Secred Hotels hotels versus Priceline.<\/span><\/p>\n

Travelocity officially launched its opaque-hotel offering,\u00a0<\/span>Top Secret Hotels<\/a>, which had been in beta, in an effort to become a player in that space alongside Priceline and Expedia\u2019s Hotwire. \u00a0<\/span>Like Hotwire\u2019s model and unlike Priceline\u2019s, there\u2019s no bidding involved with Travelocity\u2019s Top Secret Hotels.<\/span><\/p>\n

With Hotwire and Travelocity\u2019s Top Secret Hotels, the consumer knows the price up-front, but not the hotel\u2019s identity. Both Hotwire and Travelocity also provide a consumer rating of the property based on travelers\u2019 reviews. \u00a0When you click on Travelers\u2019 Reviews, Travelocity states: \u201cSorry, but we can\u2019t show you the reviews for the hotel as they may give away the Top Secret location.\u201d \u00a0Interesting and very clever.<\/p>\n

But, Travelocity does provide a user rating based on 10 of the property\u2019s aspects, such as service and room quality.<\/p>\n

In its announcement, Travelocity differentiates Top Secret Hotels with the statement that \u201cit is the first major online travel site to offer unpublished (or \u201copaque) hotel deals and regular hotel rates all in one search window, without the hassle of bidding.\u201d<\/p>\n

I agree that its nice to not have to worry about bidding sometimes. \u00a0In fact, I wrote an article on when to avoid Priceline<\/a>. \u00a0If you do not want the hassle of bidding or you need to know what hotel amenities you will be getting, I recommend not bidding for travel and trying other non-bidding opaque travel sites such as: \u00a0Expedia Unpublished Rates, Hotwire, Priceline Express Deals, and Travelocity Top Secret.<\/p>\n

By far, Travelocity is the least popular of the opaque hotel booking engines. \u00a0In the Hotwire and Priceline forum<\/a>, we get very few people saying good things about Travelocity Top Secret Hotels. \u00a0To be honest, Travelocity put out an inferior product and it simply cannot compete when you compare Travelocity Top Secret Hotel Vs. Priceline.<\/p>\n

Still want to give Travelocity a try? \u00a0My biggest recommendation is to compare Travelocity with Hotwire. \u00a0You’re getting essentially the same thing, so why not try them both, compare prices, and go with the cheapest? \u00a0Another tip: \u00a0Use the Hotwire hotel lists to help identify your hotel<\/a>. \u00a0The lists are made up of hotels known to be on Hotwire, and if they are on Hotwire, there is a good chance they will be on Travelocity too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
