Booking on a hotel on blind bidding websites such as Priceline and Hotwire are great for travelers. \u00a0Hotels fill excess vacant rooms by offering ultra low prices without diluting or sullying their brand. Travelers benefit by picking up some great deals on hotels rooms that would otherwise go vacant. This is a win-win situation for both travelers and hotels. However, there is some risk when bidding for travel. \u00a0For one, you do not know what hotel you are going to get. \u00a0All you know is the star rating and the general vicinity (also called the bidding zone). \u00a0In situations where you need to have a particular amenity, its best to avoid Name Your Own Price. Stick to booking methods that show the amenities instead.<\/p>\n
Priceline Exprss Deals<\/strong> offers the best of both worlds. While you do not know the exact name of the hotel at the time of booking, you do know the amenities the hotel has to offer. This substantially reduces the risk and is a great alternative for those needing certain hotel amenities. Personally, whenever I travel with my kids, I always look for important hotel amenities like: \u00a0free airport shuttle, free internet, free breakfast, free parking, and of course, a swimming pool. As a solo traveler, I do not care so much about the amenities and often use Name Your Own Price, which tends to be a bit cheaper.<\/p>\n The Priceline Forum<\/a>\u00a0has over 20,000 members who regularly share their winning bids. A “winning bid” is essentially a Priceline hotel purchase on NYOP or Express Deals. Travelers who book their hotel and then find out the name of it visit the forum to post their winning bid. \u00a0We have literally had thousands of winning bids reported and curated into Priceline hotel lists<\/a> for virtually every city in North America (mostly Canada and the United States). We are eagerly gathering data for Europe, Mexico and Caribbean destinations.<\/p>\n Here is a sample hotel list for Orlando, Florida<\/a>. You can see in this screen shot that we show the same bidding zones as Priceline and we list all the hotels we know about. The list includes the star rating, hotel name, and any other information.<\/p>\n The hotel lists are only as accurate as the reports from bidding travelers who have posted their wins. We review each and every one manually to keep the lists up to date. \u00a0Lists are most accurate and current in popular travel destinations such as Las Vegas<\/a>, Orlando <\/a>and New York<\/a>. They are by no means 100% accurate, however. \u00a0It is important that the lists are intended only as a guide for trying to have your Priceline Express Deals revealed.
